Finding Articles: Finding Full Text Guide

How to Search the Library Collection for Full Text

If you have the citation information for an article, this guide will help you locate the full text.

Parts of a Citation

An article citation contains several elements. Those elements typically include: Journal Title, Article Title, Author's Name, Volume, Issue, Page Numbers, Year of Publication, and a unique identifier, such as PMID Number OR DOI Number.  You can use this information to search the library's collections for the article's full text.

Example:

Searching the Collection for Full Text

1. From the Library's Home Page, click on the Find Full Text tab.

2. The simplest way to search is with the PMID or DOI number.  Enter either one into the corresponding field and click Match.  If you don't have the PMID or DOI for the article, enter as much of the other information as possible and click Match.

3. If the full text of the article is available, you will be taken directly to it.  If the article is unavailable, you should see a document delivery request form.  Fill out the form with your contact information and click Send to request the article.  Usually, you should receive the article within 1 to 2 business days.
